Below is a copy of an email the Cypriot BL's will find in their accounts. I would like to invite all BL's including the Kenyans to participate. The quote we use is a Kenyan proverb! Some of you Cypriots ought to volunteer for the day, (wear your t-shirts), and others to create Elephants. . .and maybe the Kenyan bold leaders can send one.
Lets see who wants to turn this into a project.
Dear Bold Leaders,
I am sending this reminder to you concerning the Elephants for Peace project. Rose Marie Gnausch, is the German artist who spoke with you at Highgate during last months gathering. Her website has recently been updated so you can view over 60 photographs and a video of the preliminary exhibition that was held at the Famagusta Gate in January. You can also read the press updates that have appeared in both communities as well.
Go Ganesha Go - Elephants for Peace is an art movement and is meant to give a visual expression to a wish for peace. She is calling for anyone from anywhere in the world, children and grown- ups, artists and non- artists, individuals and organizations, to take part in its making. The common symbol is the elephant, a majestic and kind figure of great size and wisdom which lives harmoniously with all species. The main exhibition in Cyprus will be held in May and the elephants will be displayed from both ends of Ledra Street in both communities. After the exhibition on Ledra Street the hope is to have the exhibition travel onto other areas around the globe.
You can donate an item or create something with an elephant as the feature ...a picture, sculpture, t-shirt, write a song, poem or make a video. The items can be mailed or dropped off at the to the Goethe Center ( in the buffer zone next to the Fulbright Center). The address is Goethe Zentrum (Nicosia), German Cultural Centre, 21 Markou Drakou, 1102 , Nicosia. You can go online and register and find out more about the project at
www.go-ganesha-go.com or
www.gnausch.net . Once you register and your elephant is received, your name and country will appear next to your elephant at every exhibition. You can submit as an individual or a group/school/organization.
This would be a great project to get the Bold Leaders to rally around. I am sure that Rose Marie would appreciate volunteers helping to get the word out, or helping to set up and take down the day of the exhibition. If any of the Bold Leaders would like to volunteer and get involved please feel free to contact her through her website and ask where you can help.
