Background
Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland are in the unique position of having been the recipients of Peace and
Reconciliation funding from the EU. Since the mid 1990s, the EU’s interventions through PEACE I (1995 – 1999) and
PEACE II (2000 - 2006) have aimed to reinforce progress towards a peaceful and stable society and to promote
reconciliation in the region. It has assisted the promotion of social and economic stability in the region with a specific focus on
reconciling communities and contributing towards a shared society. This unique EU intervention has both complemented
and underpinned the wider work of the two Member States to secure lasting peace in Northern Ireland.
Strategic Aim
The strategic aim of the Peace Network is to effectively communicate the experience of managing, implementing and
evaluating EU PEACE funding in Northern Ireland and Border Region of Ireland thereby enabling participants to learn,
exchange and transfer knowledge relevant to their various policy needs.
Objectives
The objectives of the Peace Network are to:
Analyse and examine the unique experience of using EU funding to manage cross-community reconciliation initiatives
Communicate impacts and lessons learnt and to disseminate good practice to other regions across Europe
Outline the role of organisations at local level in supporting successful peace building and reconciliation projects

Hello everyone.

Soma Akriton Youth Organization and Mediation Association invite you in a 2-day environmental+ camp, on the 21-22 November, at Kritou Terra. The camp is organized within the frameworks of the “Youth Activism Project” which is funded by UNDP-ACT. The project is designed to bring the youth from both communities of Cyprus closer and create opportunities for dialogue.

No these are different. The SOMA AKRITON and Mediation Center are for youth to talk with each other and the other is mostly for youth workers and it looks like some youth will be attending.
