We are pleased to inform you that we have arranged for another Socrates Cafe. Please
find the invitation attached to this email.
We are also very happy to announce that Colleen Graffy, who is the Deputy Assistant
Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy in the Bureau of European and Eurasian
Affairs, will be joining us for the event. She will be on the island during that
week and is interested in meeting with the youth of Cyprus. We realize that this is a
week night and it may be difficult to fit it into your busy schedules, however we are
working around the schedule of our guest and we appreciate your understanding.
After the last Socrates Cafe several of you had asked if the topics could be
announced before hand. Some of the topics we are considering this time around are:
*
Personal Integrity and Social Change - does one affect the other?
*
Coping Mechanisms -dealing with stress
*
US Elections
*
Role of Youth in Society
*
How the Youth of Today Deal with Authority Figures - parents, guardians, bosses
, police, teachers
*
School Violence - causes of violence and bullying
* Living in a material world
Keep in mind that these are just ideas and we would like your input. Please email
your topic ideas to me, regardless of if you can attend the meeting or not. If you
plan on attending, please send an email to me before Saturday October 4th. If you
cannot attend, you do not need to reply to this email.
We would also appreciate it if you could print out this email and share the
information your parents so that they are aware of the follow up programs that we are
offfering.
Hope to see you there.
Best Regards
