Hello everyone
I just got an e-mail from Stephanie that she has been invited by the United Democrats meeting. this following text has been written by Stephanie herself and is NOT the invitation from the United democrats
Dear Bold leaders
It is my honour to share with you a email that i reseaved a few days ago. It would be great if you could join me on this date(28th of September at 10.00) where we have been invited to a conference by the United Democrats as guests. I can assure there will be no political link between Bold leaders and the united democrats, we will just be attending the meeting. It would be great if you could come as it would help open are views of what the political parties plans are for the reunification of the island. Please forward this to as many bold leaders as possible. We will be meeting at 9.30 at ledra palace where a bus will take us to the United Democrats lecture and then when it finishes the bus will take everyone back to ledra palace. Please call me to let me know you are coming at 99148217
Guys I don't think this is such a good idea, I know they will say that we are not going to affiliate you with being a United Democrat, but one of the things that make Bold Leaders a multiperspective group is that we do not belong in any political party or anything. Attending a lecture of this political party will definitely make our story not being so.
I would prefer if it remained that way.
Now, inviting ALL the political parties in a BL lecture, that's different,we are actually walking our talk..
hey buddy,
I appreciate the non-partisan value you are sharing here... but, being educated and aware is always a good thing. Attending the lectures and events of other organizations is critical for boldleaders and does not necessarily imply bias or membership. It would be like saying, cypriot boldleaders shouldn't visit or be interested in other countries because they are cypriots.
I am not sayind that we shouldn't visit this lecture,I just said that we shouldn't visit it as an organisation called Bold Leaders since it would imply that we are part of that political ideology...! we can go as individual Bold Leaders and use the knowledge we gain from that to influence and help our goal in Cyprus and generally Bold Leaders as a whole...!
I would urge all Bold Leaders in Cyprus to attend, as BOLD LEADERS who live on the island, not as Cyprus Bold Leaders, the organization. Simply, be informed, honor the invite and why they invited you, no matter the meaning they, (the United Democrats), made it mean. Bold Leaders is not an organization on the island of CYprus. . .it is a group of young people, teens, high achievers on grades, who between the ages of 14-16 attended a bi-communal program in Colorado and hosted by CMLE. as selected by AMIDEAST, (04-08) and Cyprus Fulbright Commission 07-08 You can simply introduce yourselves as INTERESTED Cypriots who consider themselves Bold Leaders.
I would also advise against plotting how to use political parties and how to avoid being used by them. Cyprus is a country using rule of law. Some of you aspire to these positions, others of you, will be thrust into them. Your training was designed to prepare you, as well as to support those that choose this path even if you do not. The intent of all Bold leader programs is to guide people in having an experience of impacting and influencing their environment. Politics, rule of law, constitutions, frameworks, etc. . , likely to be a part of your lives for all time. How about working on a new "listening" for your political leaders?
I agree with Michael. Attending does not imply that we are linked or that we are part of that party by any means. By attending we gain knowledge and become more open-minded, by hearing all the different perspactives. I suggest that for whoever it is possible, he/she should attend as a Boldleader.
